BAMBI: STEALING HEARTS & WAITING FOR HER FOREVER HOME

Some dogs just quietly steal your heart—and Bambi is one of them.

Bambi is an adorable basset hound mix with soulful eyes and a gentle spirit that makes everyone feel instantly at ease. In her foster home, she has proven to be a total star: great with kids, friendly with other dogs, and happy to be part of the pack. She’s the kind of dog who fits right in and makes a house feel like home.

Bambi is currently finishing up her heartworm treatment, and she’s handled it like a champ. Through it all, she’s remained sweet, loving, and resilient—ready to put the hard part behind her and start the next chapter of her life.

What truly surprises us is that Bambi is still waiting. She’s affectionate, playful, and endlessly lovable. Whether she’s lounging nearby or trotting along on a walk with those classic hound vibes, Bambi brings a quiet joy that’s impossible to ignore.

Bambi is ready for a forever family who will give her the love she so freely offers in return. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s already shown she can thrive in a family setting, Bambi might just be your perfect match.

LEARNING LESSONS COME TO LIFE

Recently, a classroom at SHSU Charter School in The Woodlands turned into something extra special. One of our Board members, Victoria, along with Trish, a dedicated volunteer, helped bring a lesson off the page and into real life for Ms. Lisa Haydt’s 5th grade class.

Ms Haydt is a staunch believer in the importance of children participating in community service, and has her class participate each year. The students were learning about servant leadership and community responsibility—big ideas with even bigger hearts behind them. The class was asked to pick from four options and they voted unanimously to help an animal shelter! As part of the lesson, the class  discussed what was needed and organized (with help from their parents) a donation drive to support a local animal shelter - Corridor Rescue. To help the students truly understand the impact of their generosity, Oaken and Pabbie—two puppies currently in our care—paid a visit as the furry faces of the cause.

The excitement was instant. Seeing, meeting, and interacting with the puppies helped the students connect their classroom lesson to real-world action. Their donations were no longer abstract; they directly supported animals like Oaken and Pabbie who rely on community care and compassion.

Moments like these remind us how powerful hands-on learning can be. We are grateful for opportunities to engage with the community, inspire young leaders, and show how everyone—no matter their age—can play a role in improving the lives of shelter dogs.

We look forward to many more experiences like this that bring education, empathy, and action together. Thank you again, SHSU Charter School, for having us!

FOSTER SPOTLIGHT: CLEOPATRA

A name this regal belongs only to true royalty and Cleopatra has earned her crown. When she first arrived, she was suffering from significant hair loss and painful scabbing caused by mange. But this resilient queen fought her way back to health, and today she’s dazzling everyone with her gorgeous black-and-tan coat and hopeful spirit.

Despite her rough past, Cleopatra is open to making new friends, both human and canine. She may be a bit shy at first, but with patience, she warms up beautifully, leaning into pets and soaking up head scratches. In her foster home she’s been around ten other dogs and has shown herself to be very dog social.

Now this reigning pharaoh is ready to embark on her next great quest: finding a loving forever home. Are you ready to rule side-by-side with this strong, affectionate pup? Adoption inquiries here: www.corridorrescue.org/adopt
