Frequently Asked Questions

Please read the below FAQ before reaching out to us.

  • We are sorry, but unfortunately we cannot accept owner surrenders. There are hundreds of dogs on the Corridor streets still in need of rescue. With limited space and funds, we have concentrated our efforts in the Corridor and those dogs in need.

Suggestions: Adopt-a Pet has a new platform you can use to re-home your pet safely and reach many prospective adopters as well.

  • For the same reason we cannot accept owner surrenders, we cannot accept rescued dogs from outside the Corridor. We wish we could help everyone who asks, however that would mean accepting numerous dogs a day. That is sadly not possible.

    Suggestions:

If you use Facebook, post the animals you have found and ask everyone you know to share the photos for help.

Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) provides a unique program to assist pet owners who need to find a new home for their animal(s), and for those who have found an animal and can foster it while looking for a home. The program is designed for people who can keep the pet in their home during the week (until adopted) and place it up for adoption on the weekend, a time when most potential adopters visit the CAP shelter.

Another possible resource for cats or if you can foster a dog is Friends for Life:

If you are stuck with taking the dogs to BARC, you might try contacting Rescued Pets Movement. Tell them you will donate (if you can raise some funds) to the rescue who will accept the dog(s). They are not a rescue group, they send dogs to partner rescues in Colorado, but that offer of a donation sometimes makes a difference in getting them placed.

  • This solves our space issue, but we are still unable to accept a non-Corridor dog even with a foster. Things happen and situations can change where someone may not be able to foster a dog they committed to originally.

  • The Corridor is an approximately 14 square mile area in Northeast Houston that is dense with abandoned, dumped, stray and neglected animals. Our volunteers sometimes feed up to 100 animals in a day in this area. We decided 10 years ago to concentrate our efforts in this area because of the huge population of animals in need of help and rescue.

  • We do feed cat colonies in the Corridor. We also have a volunteer who has made it her personal mission to TNR (Trap/Neuter/Release) as many cats as she can trap.

  • The “Corridor of Cruelty” is located in Northeast Houston, near Highway 59 & Little York. The area encompasses about fourteen square miles, in which we have numerous feeding stations at known dumping grounds and on back roads known for abandoned animals.

  • Our rehabilitation and rescue kennel is located in North Harris County. We do not advertise our address as we are not an open intake facility.

  • We are not an open intake or open to the public shelter. We are a rehabilitation and rescue kennel. If you are interested in adopting, fostering or volunteering for us, you are welcome (by appointment) to come by. We only do meet and greets with our dogs once an adopter or foster is approved.

  • As previously stated, we are not an open intake or public shelter. We have a very small staff taking care of the animals residing there. The rest of the people involved are volunteers. We do not have a land line at our kennel, so there is no phone number available. We do not publish our address in hope we can detour unexpected visitors wanting to see or drop off a dog they found. We also are trying to thwart dogs being dumped outside our facility. This can be dangerous and detrimental to the animal being dumped.

  • Yes, we are No Kill. We do not euthanize healthy animals for space.

  • If you would like to donate items for our rescue dogs, you can do so in two ways.

We have two Amazon wish lists, one of which is items needed for our kennel facility and the other being items needed for our Street Team.
